Creative, and easy to make, the final product always looks like you spent hours in the kitchen working on your masterpiece. This is an opportunity to learn new baking skills, and to try out fun recipes. Cinnamon Star Bread was the challenge for December 2017. Straight forward and delicious…this Cinnamon Star Bread disappeared within an hour in our house!
Mixing Up the Dough
The bread machine made this dough incredible simple to make. I literally measured all of the ingredients into the pan, set the machine to the dough setting, and let it mix. Ninety minutes later, the dough was ready to be turned into a star. This recipe calls for ingredients that are pretty straight forward. I used instant mashed potatoes instead of the potato flour.
Creating the Layers and Star Shape
Both of my kids loved helping with this baking challenge. Both were on hand for cutting the dough, twisting pieces together, and of course, watching through the oven door to see when the star was finished baking.
I found it hard to work on the parchment paper as the recipe suggested. When I made this a second time, I rolled the dough on a floured, maple cutting board and found this to be much easier…no wrinkly parchment to deal with.
One final rise, and then the start bakes at 400° for about 20 minutes. The recipes calls for 12-15 minutes in the oven but I found that mine needed more time. Definitely try this recipe out…This Cinnamon Star Bread will become a new tradition at your holiday breakfast table.
